National Girl Child Day
Every year, the 24th January is celebrated as National Girl Child Day since 2009. On 24th January 1966, Smt. Indira Gandhi became first woman Prime Minister of India, therefore, 24th January was selected as National Girl Child Day to commemorate the event.
The objective of celebrating this day is to focus attention on the depleting female to male ratio (The child sex ratio in India in 2011 census for girls versus boys stood at 914:1000), and take a stand on issues of female foeticide, domestic violence and malnutrition in children.

Bajaj Auto Unveils New Four Wheeler RE60
The world's largest three wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has unveiled its first-ever four wheeler, the RE60. It is a four wheeler but not a car.
According to Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, 'This is a vehicle for all the people who use a three-wheeler almost everyday. It is a four-wheeler which is a dramatic improvement on the three wheeler'.
The price of RE60 will be announced when it will go on sale later this year.
In name RE60, the 'RE' stands for Rear Engine & '60' stands for 60gms/km CO2 Emissions.

Indian National Congress (commonly known as the Congress) is the largest and the oldest democratic political party of India. It was founded by Allan Octavian Hume in 1885.
The first session of Indian National Congress was held at Mumbai from 28 to 31 Dec, 1885. It was presided by Womesh Chandra Banerjee.
Badruddin Tyabji was the first Muslim to become the President of Indian National Congress. And, George Yule, a Scottish businessman, was the first non-Indian President of Indian National Congress.
In 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Congress won 205 seats and emerged as the single largest party in the Lok Sabha. Since, it didn't gain majority i.e. 273 seats out of total 545 seats in Lok Sabha, it made the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) with supporting coalition partners and formed government at centre headed by Dr. Manmohan Singh. Present Congress president Smt. Sonia Gandhi is the Chairperson of the the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

National Mathematics Day
As a tribute to mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan,the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh declared his birthday, that is 22nd December, as 'National Mathematics Day'.
Prime Minister also declared year 2012 as a whole as the 'National Mathematical Year', as a part of celebrations for the 125th birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan.
Srinivasa Ramanujan(22 Dec 1887 - 26 Apr 1920), the great mathematician of India, was born at Erode in Tamil Nadu. The Number '1729' is named after him & is called Ramanujan–Hardy number. His home state Tamil Nadu celebrates his birthday as 'State IT Day'.
